This week our class dove into the topic of how distributed learning was impacting us positively and negatively. Personally, I believe that online learning is a wonderful tool that this pandemic has developed simply because of the assessability for global teaching and learning. I can go anywhere in the world and learn and be apart of this cohort, which is really cool in a way. However, due to the fact that humans are social creatures, zoom university has been exponentially difficult. The amount of screen time is causing headaches and low motivation throughout our class (I have finally gotten blue light glasses). Listening to lectures all day online, and then completing all of our assignments online starts producing a lack of participation and over-stressed students. All of our classes are synchronous, which is actually a blessing in disguise as it allows our class to interact with each other and pushes us to attend a class every day. I feel as though if it was all asynchronous I would procrastinate and become behind very quickly. Overall, our class is extremely excited for school to begin and for us to finally meet each other in person, although I feel like it will take a lot of getting used to, online learning just simply is not as engaging or as active as a university should be.
