Well, this class has come to an end and as a final blog post, I want to share the most favorable part of the class and what I have learned regarding the future success of my career. I also want to share my personal growth in my PLN and share my next steps for my future. I enjoyed learning and listening to the information Jesse shared with us over the term, as most of this information was quite new to me.

The most favorable part of this course was listening to the inclusion videos with Shelly Moore and Markiel Simpson. Shelly explained in 5 mins how to support inclusion within education and discussed her growing career in relation to the status of her PLN. I learned the most from our first and second lectures that discussed digital identity and V& R mapping. I feel as though these lectures made me understand how prevalent and public our online presence is on the internet. In addition to this, it also made me aware of the number of social media accounts and online platforms I use on a daily basis. I believe that this was very educational as I continue on my path as an educator. If I plan on keeping my reputation professions, being aware of the amount of public information I share is relevant and important depending on the jobs I apply to and the potential employers’ access to my information. This course prepared myself for how important my PLN is to my career as well as prepared me for the information I share and create.

In order to prepare my blog for my career, I downloaded and created a Twitter account, to join education communities and several other groups, such as Indigenous activist, environmental, University, and gender-expansive accounts/groups to get my foot in the door and begin to expand my understanding. In addition, I am going to continue to use and expand my blog to showcase my skills and academic career to potential employers as well as allow them to observe who I am as a person. I continue to use Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok as forms of social media to gather knowledge and share actively within my community. However, now depending on what information I recieve or choose to post I now practice media literacy to ensure accuracy and professionality within my digital identity.

The recent assignment my group and I completed shares most of our experience using our PLN and how important it is for one’s career. I will use my information learned to encourage individuals to not fear the web, but rather inform them on the correct and professional ways to use a PLN to strengthen their skills set and amplify their network.
