Hello, Utkarsh, Karen, Shrey, and Trusha!
Thank you for providing such an educational and professional Interactive Learning Resource for me to review. As I was reviewing your assignment I hope to utilize some great resources that I have learned from your work, that I would not have thought of on my own.
Strengths of Interactive Resource:
Firstly, I would just like to point out how pleasing and elegant the layout of your design is. It indicates how much time and effort everyone has put into this resource, and it really brings this project to another level, well done. The organization and instructions of the layout are also very helpful as I can see future educators (such as myself) easily following and using this resource in the future. The reference numbers, that relate to the appendix is a great touch, it allows the document to look professional and not too wordy. The learning design, theory, and context are all well written and clearly share the understanding of the learner’s outcome/goals. I also really appreciate your assessment plan and idea of only using formative assessment. I believe that this assessment style is appropriate for grade 2 students as they are too young, and I agree that formative assessments show more development for each child. Lastly, each of the modules, addition, subtraction, and estimation, are organized, clear, and develop the student’s progressions and exceed their learning outcomes. These are incredibly well done, it is clear that all of you are really passionate and knowledgeable about elementary education. Overall, this Interactive Resource is clear, organized, and well written. As a prospective teacher, I would use this as a future resource as it is professional and provides the students with a lesson that amplifies their learning. All of you should be very proud of the work you have created as I would describe this assignment as outstanding, congrats.
Ways to Improve your Interactive Resource:
This is fairly difficult to answer as I believe this resource is extremely well done. One thing I would include in either the overview or learning context is a brief description of grade 2 big ideas, from the B.C. math curriculum to share what goals you are tying your learning outcomes towards. I believe this was not a requirement, however, it would allow future educators to see what ideas your activity is focusing on. In addition to this, I believe that your Interactive Resource also follows the learning theory of cognitivism as well as constructivism. I do agree that it follows mainly a cognitivist approach, however, the group work and progressions show that students are learning from their past experiences and current surrounding. All in all, this project is excellent and I think you all would be able to sell this resource on Teachers Pay Teachers, or upload it somewhere where multiple teachers can access it as a mathematical resource for grade 2.
